Small Gifts...

These are items I made when I first started out sewing small items instead of costumes. I tried to think of things that could be made to give as gifts. I only made a few items, got lots more ideas so once they've been made, photos will be added!!

I made a washbag:

A cushion:

Two decorative crosstitches in frames:

A rag doll:

Rings...

I got some ring bases off the internet and thought I could have a go at finding something to go on them. Then I thought - buttons! Over the past few months I have collected loads of buttons and they really need to be used. Here are the fist few rings I had a go at. In my opinion, I think they're really quirky and different.

40s Dress... Went horribly wrong...

My last post was about me making a 40s dress for The Blitz Party. Unfortunately it didn't work :(
To begin with I thought it was going well untill I tried it on. It did not suit me at all! Such a shame because i was so looking forward to making it. So this was my Plan B dress...

Anyways The Blitz Party was fantastic! I highly recommend it! Everyone was dressed up, fantastic atmosphere and fantastic music. Myself and friends could not stop dancing... The next Blitz Party is on May 5th - wish I was going. Hopefully later in the year :)

40s Dress...

At the end of this month I am going to The Blitz Party in London! It is a 40s night with entertainment and everyone has to dress up :) This is the pattern I bought so I can make my own outfit. I'm going to make the dress on the right in this floral fabric. Just need to find a jacket to wear and sort out hair and make-up... Best start practising my victory rolls!!

Crosstitch...

I have really got into crosstitch lately - I love it! These are crosstitches I have done in the last few months and given out as christmas presents. I use patterns from Crosstitch magazine which are really good and relatively simple to understand. I'm trying to do a small amount each night so I can get more practice in and hopefully become quicker at it. It's great as I have never been a fan of handstitching but I find this very theraputic :)

Tale As Old As Time...

This is my final major project: Tale As Old As Time. It is based on Beauty and the Beast. The fairytale of Beauty and the Beast was written in the 18th Century so I thought it fitting to design the costumes from that era. I used colours that worked well together but in contrasting shades so you can see differences in the characters. I wanted to create costumes that were more 'real life', far from Disney's version which many people are familiar with.

I loved this project SO much (even the late nights, stress, lack of sleep and lots of tears!) I am really proud of what I achieved...
